Video Editor Job Responsibilities

Your primary responsibility is to creatively edit our video projects, taking them from ingest to delivery. Our projects vary from scripted broadcast commercials, brand anthem videos, to testimonial pieces. Video Editor Responsibilities include:

  • Manage the post-production process of creating compelling and dynamic marketing films and commercials for our diverse clients.
  • Organize workload, manage priorities, meet deadlines and work well within a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Ingest footage from each new project and keeping footage organized on our servers.
  • Source appropriate (awesome) music for each project that fits the client’s budget.
  • Follow guidelines and direction provided by our pre-production process to create an initial cut.
  • Screen all cuts with the producer and the creative team throughout the approval process.
  • Going through rounds of revisions implementing notes & feedback both internal and from the client.
  • Consult/meet with producers and creatives on upcoming projects, giving input from the post-production perspective. 
  • Basic Sound Design / Audio Sweetening
  • Basic Color Correction / Grading of projects.
  • Help maintain all edit equipment, server, edit stations, troubleshoot problems, and help problem-solve IT issues as they arise.
  • Keep footage organized on our servers by archiving projects when needed.
  • Create Internal Videos for use on MVP’s website, reels, and social media.
  • Update MVP website with new work / projects.
  • Track time daily

Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 3-5 years of prior professional post-production experience.
  • Mastery of Adobe Premiere Pro and the Adobe Creative Cloud family of applications.
  • Fluent in Adobe After Effects is a plus.
  • Experience Color Correcting & Grading with DaVinci Resolve.
  • Familiarity with various camera post workflows including but not limited to RED, Arri, Canon, and Sony.
  • Must welcome feedback both internally and from the client side.
  • Must have a strong portfolio of experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment on a wide variety of projects.
  • Ability to learn quickly and be a team player.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines and keep a positive attitude while under pressure.
  • Experience managing video projects without direct supervision, but capable of working within a team setting under direct supervision.
  • Detailed technical knowledge of camera formats and video codecs.
  • A problem solver who can troubleshoot technical and editorial issues.
  • Experience in meeting a variety of technical specifications for broadcast and internet.
  • Familiarity with broadcast specs for color and audio.
  • Ability to be organized, detail-oriented, and pro-active, with a can-do attitude.
  • Must be adept at multitasking and flexible enough to move between projects as needed.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations while managing deadlines and organizing a multitude of details. 
  • Must be diplomatic and interested in problem-solving.
  • ​Love to collaborate​.
  • Have a drive to think creatively beyond the parameters of any given project​
  • Must take enormous pride in your work and with an awesome attention to detail.
  • Ideally you live in the East Bay so you can avoid a long commute.

Full or Part Time

This is potentially a full time (40-hour/week) position for an amazing editor whose primary responsibility will be to edit and work on post-production projects. You will also have secondary responsibilities of helping us produce upcoming projects. There also may be opportunities to join us on our shoots depending on your experience / interest.

If you have other sources of income or perhaps you’re a freelancer and are only looking for a part-time position, we would also like to explore working with you on a part-time basis.
