What Good People Means to Us

What “Good People” Means to Us

At Maximize Video, we’ve always believed that how you work matters just as much as the work itself. For us, video production isn’t just about cameras and edits. It’s about collaboration, trust, empathy, and the people behind the scenes who bring stories to life.

That’s why one of our core values is something we simply call Good People.

Not just a name. A way of being

You may have seen us referred to over the years as MVP – Good People. For a while, we considered fully rebranding the company with that name. But in the end, we returned to our roots: Maximize Video remains our business name, and Good People is both the heartbeat behind how we work and a special initiative we’ve built to give back.

A values-driven approach to video

“Good People” represents the kind of collaborators we strive to be and the kind of clients and crew we love working with. It’s about leading with kindness, respecting everyone on set, and believing that great work and great character go hand in hand.

There are a lot of talented video producers out there. What we hear most from the people we work with is this: “You’re just good people, and that made all the difference.”

Kindness and integrity aren’t just personal values. They’re part of how we do business. And they’re part of what sets us apart.

The Good People Initiative: Storytelling with heart

That core value eventually took on a life of its own. We started the Good People Initiative as a way to use our 18+ years of storytelling experience to highlight the people and organizations making Oakland a better place.

We’ve captured cleanup efforts with Urban Compassion Project, shared meals and stories alongside The City Eats, and hosted art installations in our neighborhood park to bring the community together. You can find those moments and more on @goodpeopleoakland on Instagram.

Want to be part of it?

We host a First Saturday Feed every month, where volunteers help serve meals and connect with our unhoused neighbors. If you’d like to join us, you can sign up here.

And if you’re curious about where this all came from or where it’s going, you can read more about the Good People initiative here.

Thanks for being part of our extended community. We’re proud to keep doing the work, and doing it the good way.
